The day had an early start and looks like it’ll end late. I’m on the train from Stockholm to Tierp in what feels like the midday sun, bizarre. Weather is hot which made the flight from Copenhagen feel like an edurance competition in a sauna, babies crying in harmony throughout the plane whilst everyone else was drinking to stay alive.
What made the otherwise torturous flights bearable was the knowledge that the entire Derby County first team was sat infront of me in economy, what they lacked in extravagence they made up for in noise.
Back to the trip – Copenhagen was interesting (if the airport is anything to go by) their money had holes in it and I was having a conversation with somebody about why our currency was called Sterling – I don’t actually know but would be interested in finding out. my guesses were the name of a mint or the silver that goes into some of the coins.
After the Manchester – Copenhagen flight saw me on the back row with a great view of someone’s bald spot an little else, I found myself with a window. seat. This did mean no leg room but I managed to get some photos and was amazed by how the clouds all seem to sit at the same height.
I had the latest in McDonalds menu for dinner- the McFeast, although I’d call it the McOnion. – imagine a big mac with an onion on top and half the meat and you wouldn’t be far off!
The train seems pretty good although the airport station is possibly the loneliest place on earth. Trains were on time and spotless, an old lady insisted that I got on first which made me feel very awkward – guess I must look like a foreigner.
The course begins tomorrow at the University of Gavle which should be great, I’m really looking forward to delivering some ‘tricks of the trade’ to the lecturers over the next 5 days.
Right back to the train I go. I have trees to watch.
