Jojopops.co.uk and the Jojopops Blog get a facelift

[Warning - Geek Speak Ahead]
Talk about stressful, i’ve been developing my CSS programming skills over the last month or so and succeeded yesterday in getting the new jojopops.co.uk website as I wanted it – simply designed, easy to use and with a full-screen video background. I tested it locally and it all worked a treat, very happy I was…until uploading and testing on different browsers. (Any web designers reading will probably be falling asleep by now but this is interesting to me) It appeared that despite assigning z-index parameters to the absolute positioned DIV tags wasn’t enough and the video appeared above the site’s main content. So at the time of writing this blog the site functions as I wanted it to but the background has been sacrificed for the time being. For those of you interested here are links to the version that worked and the plain content / currently live version.

The new website features higher quality flash video which has reduced loading times drastically from the old quicktime h.264 encoded videos. We have more options for subscribing to the blog with iTunes, Zune, Zencast and plain RSS feeds. The content is delivered very smoothly and cleverly by Shadowbox, which is basically the Lightbox Plug-in with adaptors for a wider variety of media types (including html, flash and video) which is a much better way of demonstrating the different types of work in our portfolio in a clean way.

As for the Blog, i’ve adapted the “Freshy Theme” by Julien De Luca which unlike the company website was an absolute breeze, you have to love the ease of working with WordPress. I decided to go with this theme as it fits in better with the aesthetic of the new site whilst at the same time preserving it’s own identity, just what I was after.

Of course the best way to see what i’m talking about is to visit so please do check out Jojopops.co.uk
