Visual Merchandising for dummies (and mannequins)

24 07 2009

Just spotted this unique window display in an unnamed but overpriced denim store in St Albans. The jeans (as you can see) are being modelled unzipped and halfway down the leg. I did wonder if it was a prank but the store was full of them.

Who thinks of this stuff and who in their right mind buys pants based on their ability them stay open. It’s beyond me completely. Must be some sort of urinal homage or underwear statement.

Bizarre

Stanley

21 07 2009

As you are (possibly) aware, I’m not the RSPCA’s biggest sympathizer, and not because I think their work is wrong or unnecesary – but because I’m not…well, bothered about animals that much.

Either way I am working to rectify this by posting a picture of Stanley – the owner of our friends Don & Leslie as he sleeps in the conservatory whilst the seat he takes cover under in their porch is raised. People say dogs have it easy, but obviously they’ve not seen this fellows lifestyle.

5th Wall VFX update

3 07 2009

Developments on the VFX front for the intro sequence of  Fifth Wall. I have now added dust particles to the air and flicker to the electric light in shot 5 (below), ok, I admit it’s hardly riveting but nice for me to have a record of how things are progressing. I will put a tutorial for creating 3D dust particles in After Effects when I get a few hours free.

Film in 1 day – from concept to execution in 5 hours!

2 07 2009

Sadly I can’t include any images or video clips in this blog entry for child protection reasons. On Monday this week I went into Alt Bridge School to work with the children there in planning, writing, filming and editing a film as part of our annual film challenge (last years film was about time travel).

This year the kids decided to have ‘interactive tv’ as the theme and took it to the nth degree with clips of live-action Spongebob Squarepants, Britains got talent, football on Sky Sports and the history channel. Bearing in mind, we started at 9am by talking ideas through with the kids and by 2:30pm we were watching the film together at the wrap party it was a pretty intense day. The final film was 8mins long and planned/acted by the kids with teachers supporting them with costumes and Jojopops Ltd offering the filming and editing.

Elvington Scarecrow Competition 2009

1 07 2009

We were in Yorkshire this weekend visiting family and friends and were fortunate enough to catch the ‘Elvington Scarecrow Competition 2009′ which was actually a good laugh. The weather was really warm (a bit too warm for me to be honest) which made touring the town and scarecrow spotting a lot of fun. The winning scarecrow was of Thomas the Tank Engine but my favourite was a transformers scarecrow which was great. If you’re ever in the Elvington area then you should really get down to the Scarecrow festival – slightly random but a lot of fun! Take a look at the photos below…
